The house

A quiet chair in a loud morning.

— Taylor Marie

Atelier Lumière is a mobile makeup and hair studio led by Taylor Marie, trained at the College of Makeup Art & Design in Toronto. The kit travels: brushes, lashes, airbrush, irons and pins arrive with her, and the chair goes wherever you are getting ready.

The approach is skin first. Complexion is built in thin layers so it photographs as skin rather than makeup, and it is set to survive a receiving line, a first dance, and a patio at midnight. Hair is finished to hold in humidity, not just in the mirror.

She works on faces of every tone, age and texture, and on anyone who wants to feel like themselves with the volume turned up — plus, come October, on wounds that make people flinch.

How a booking runs

Three steps, no guesswork.

01

Enquiry

Send the date, the address and how many faces. You get a quote and a hold on the date the same day — the date is not yours until a deposit is in.

02

Trial

For brides, a trial four to eight weeks out. We photograph the result in daylight and in flash, and write down every product so the day is a repeat, not a rehearsal.

03

The day

Arrival an hour before the first face, with a timeline everyone has already seen. Last face finishes before the photographer arrives, not while they wait.

Enquire

Tell me about the day.

Dates are held on a first-deposit basis, and Saturdays between May and October go early. If your date is close, say so — it can usually be worked out.

You will hear back the same day, usually within a few hours.
